Machine-Washing a Prayer Mat: Safe Settings

Many modern mats can be washed in a machine—if the label allows it and you use the right settings. This guide walks you through cycle choice, water temperature, spin speed, detergent type, and drying so your prayer mat comes out clean without color loss, pile crush, or backing damage.

First Check: Is Machine Washing Allowed?

• Read the care label: Look for “machine washable,” fiber content, and backing type. If the label is missing, default to hand-wash.
